Amkette to launch a gaming device below Rs 10,000 price tag

Aug 18, 2014: Domestic gadget maker Amkette is all set to unleash a new gaming device that is priced competitively under Rs 10,000 by the end of 2014. This will help the firm to penetrate the escalating multi-core gaming industry in India.

The firm aims at selling more than 20,000 units of this gaming device based on Android and it is claimed that this device will challenge the existing popular gaming consoles such as Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation.

Amkette has a very good reputation when it comes to floppy disks manufacturing. Currently, the firm is involved in making entertainment and audio related products for televisions, computers and mobile devices. The manufacturer launched its flagship product called Evo TV that lets users to surf the internet right from their TV sets similar to how they do with the conventional computers. There are four different products `in the Evo TV lineup and they are priced from Rs 5,500 to Rs 12,500.

It was made clear that Amkette will be not be involved in developing games at this moment. The ultimate reason for the same is that there are numerous games available on Android operating systems that can be played with this new gaming device.

At present, the gaming market in India is in the burgeoning phase and according to the latest survey by KPMG-FICCI, the gaming industry in the country is predicted to witness 16% CAGR growth touching 4,060 crores by the end of 2018, while it was only 1,920 crores in 2013. With over 900 million mobile phone users, the mobile gaming industry inIndiais forecasted to reach Rs 1,960 crores by the year 2018 from Rs 820 crores in 2013 that is a CAGR growth of 19 %.
