On Tuesday, Global NCAP released the most recent Indian crash test results. On the whole, five models were tested including Maruti Suzuki Eeco, Hyundai Eon, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Mahindra Scorpio, and Renault Kwid were rated as zero star. They showed low adult occupant protection levels.

Three versions of Renault Kwid were tested including a variant with airbags. Each variant was rated as zero stars in terms of adult safety. Renault has sought to enhance the performance of the vehicle.

Kwid came in four variants with varying safety features. The fourth one that was launched lately is yet to be tested by Global NCAP.

Mahindra Scorpio too zero stars in terms of adult occupant protection. The structure’s collapse and the lack of airbags explain the score. It means that there is increased probability of life threatening injuries for at least one adult passenger.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco is a non-airbag variant that has also scored zero stars in the adult occupant protection. It managed to score one star in terms of child occupant protection. The structure’s collapse in the passenger compartment and absence of airbags explain the poor score in the adult occupant protection. This vehicle does not include optional airbags.

Hyundai Eon is provided in the standard version that comes without airbags. It has scored zero stars in terms of adult occupant protection and a couple of stars in terms of child occupant protection. Also, the passenger compartment is unstable resulting in poor adult occupant protection.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio’s non-airbag variant scored zero stars in terms of adult occupant protection. It has scored one star in the child occupant protection segment. The forward excursion beyond the permitted limits explains the low score in terms of child occupant protection.
