Honda BR-V that was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 held in New Delhi in February will be launched in the country on May 5. The Honda crossover based on Brio will be made in the country and it is the first ever crossover that will be priced in the sub-Rs 15 lakh price bracket.

When it comes to the design, the exterior receives headlights along with LED light guides, roof rails, diamond cut alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, and skid plates. On the interiors front, the dashboard of the crossover is quite identical to the one in the newly launched facelift model of Honda Amaze.

Talking of the features of the BR-V, the crossover includes EBD, ABS, steering mounted controls, dual front airbags, a music system integrated with Bluetooth and automatic climate control.

A major selling point of the crossover BR-V is its third row of seating option that is not offered in its rivals that are available in the market. This feature is expected to cannibalize the sales of the MPV sibling that is the Honda Mobilio that will not be discontinued for now.

The seven seat crossover Honda BR-V is expected to have the similar 1.5 liter diesel and petrol engines as in the Hondo City. The latter is likely to render 200 Nm of torque and 100 PS of power. This engine will be teamed up with a 6 speed manual transmission. The specifications of this engine will be let out by the manufacturer in the coming weeks.

The rival crossover models that will face an impact on their sales in the market due to the launch of the Hondo BR-V include Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, and Mahindra Scorpio. The price of this new crossover based on Brio will range between Rs 8.5 lakh and Rs 11.5 lakh.
