Maruti Suzuki to launch Ciaz Hybrid with 28 km/litre mileage

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki will launch the Ciaz Hybrid that is touted to be the most fuel efficient model in the car market. It is said that the Ciaz Hybrid will render a mileage of 28 kmpl. This way, the model will definitely create a new record in the fuel efficient car market in the country.

The upcoming Ciaz Hybrid will replace the existing model that runs on diesel and it will compete with Honda City, the dominant offering in this segment. Also, this new Ciaz variant will bring the diesel cars that were losing to the petrol models to the spotlight.

As per a person familiar with the company’s plans, the technology will be the main differentiator for Maruti Suzuki in the bigger car market segment. Usually, the presence of technology in the segment was limited.

A spokesperson of Maruti Suzuki declined to make any comments regarding the new model and technology that will be used in it. However, the person revealed that enhancing the fuel efficiency is a never-ending process that happens at Maruti Suzuki. The company constantly adopts new technology as it is an initiative of the manufacturer that will enhance the fuel efficiency.

The Ciaz Hybrid is likely to feature the SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System). This is a kind of hybrid system that works in conjunction with a 1.3 litre diesel engine. The model is stated to be aggressively priced.

The company is in plans to cross a mileage of 30 kmpl with the upcoming Swift and Dzire models. This technology will be implemented in the Ertiga Hybrid as well that will be launced in October this year. We can expect this technology to be included in all the Maruti Suzuki cars with a 1.3 litre diesel engine. The company is also prepping a 1.2 litre petrol hybrid that will be launched as Suzuki Baleno. However, this model is likely to be restricted to the overseas markets.
