Microsoft unveils new Lumia 535 smartphone, drops Nokia brand

Microsoft after taking over the Finnish mobile handset maker Nokia has for the first time announced the launch of a new cheaper smartphone without the Nokia brand. The new Lumia smartphone under the Microsoft’s brand name is said to cost about 110 euros i.e. USD 135. Microsoft with the launch of this new Lumia phone would be setting its eyes on the low cost markets for growth. Earlier Microsoft had released certain Lumia smartphone models after taking over Nokia but it carried the Nokia brand. The new Microsoft Lumia 535 Windows smartphone would be one of the cheapest smarphones and the company in order to make it more affordable has cut down the manufacturing costs.

Microsoft Lumia 535 which has got a 5 inch screen comes with a 5 mega pixel front and rear camera and would definitely appeal to enthusiasts who would like to snap sharper selfies. The manufacturing costs have been cut down by avoiding physical buttons for camera and control. Now the users can tap on the screen and access the services. Though it is touted as a economical phone Lumia 535 supports Skype video calls and has got other features like virtual assistant Cortana and other Office Apps.

According to reports, Microsoft Lumia 535 which is expected to go on sale starting this month will be a dual SIM phone allowing users to switch between service providers.
