Aug 18, 2014: Indian-origin doctors from different parts of the world have collaborated with the Indian government to launch a web portal ‘www.swaasthindia.gov.in’. The ultimate aim of this website is to share their expertise, knowledge, skills and resources with patients who are in need of such medical services in the country.

This website is launched in a collaborative effort of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Global Association of Physicians of Indian-Origin (GAPIO), American Association of Physicians of India-origin USA (AAPI), Apollo Hospital and British Association of Physicians of Indian-origin, UK.

Swaasth India will act as an online platform that provides information on both government and NGO run health and wellness programs in the country to the physicians of Indian origin practicing across the globe. This will enable them to enroll and support the healthcare needs of those in villages, districts and states of choice.

Anyone who works for the Indian government being responsible for health related issues can post their requirements on the Swaasth India website. These necessities could vary from conducting health screening camps to capacity building programs and others. The posted requirements will be visible to the Indian origin doctors from all around the world so that they can provide their services.

Those physicians of Indian origin located in different parts of the globe can also post their profile in the web portal.

The information shared on the Swaasth India website will be kept secured and confidential. Only those physicians with approved profiles can gain access to the government’s health related requirements that are posted.
