Ratan Tata invests in Xiaomi, Firm Launches Mi 4i in India for Rs 12,999

With the popularity of Xiaomi, Ratan Tata has invested in the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. The amount of investment remains undisclosed, but he is the first Indian investor of the firm that is the most valued tech startup.

Regarding the same, Lei Jun, CEO and Founder of Xiaomi announced that Mr Tata is one of the most respected business leaders in the whole world. An investment by him is Xiaomi is an affirmation of the strategy of the firm inIndia, he added. Also, Tata mentioned in an official statement that Xiaomi is one among the fastest growing firms in the world. It has an innovative business model and superior quality products that has been brought toIndiawith a great level of success.

In the meantime, Xiaomi has announced the launch of a new smartphone called Mi 4i inIndiafor a pricing of Rs 12,999. This variant of the Xiaomi Mi 4 will be launched via Flipkart, Xiaomi’s Mi website and other retail platforms as well. Xiaomi Mi 4i is claimed to have a very small motherboard to allot more space to fit in a capacious battery. The device sports a 5 inch Full HD 1080p display. The screen is a fully laminated OGS Corning Concore panel that provides the same level of protection as the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Under its hood is a 64 bit octa core Snapdragon 615 SoC paired with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of non-expandable native storage space. The Xiaomi Mi 4i boasts of a 13 MP main snapper with f/2.0 aperture and two-tone flash. Up front, there is a 5 MP front facing selfie snapper with a wide angle lens.

Software wise, the Xiaomi smartphone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop topped with MIUI 6 custom ROM from the firm. The MIUI ROM has more than 100 million users across the world and it supports six Indian regional languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam. The dual SIM smartphone has a 3,120 mAh battery that can render a decent backup to it.
