Feb 7, 2013: There would be another competitor for Toyota’s Innova, Mahindra & Mahindra Xlyo and Nissan Evalia in next couple of years as Renault is like to launch its MPV Lodgy which is codenamed J92 by 2015. Renault has been very aggressive in the Indian market in the last couple of years by launching five models in 15 months and with its SUV Duster taking the market by storm. The company would be launching Renault Lodgy between Rs. 7-11 lakh after looking into in which direction the Indian automobile market is going.
Renault Lodgy would be facing stiff competition from other new models which are going to be introduced by Fiat, Ford and Honda in coming months. The Indian automobile market has been going through a new evolution with the demand surging up for utility vehicles. Renault which is presently having a market share of 2.5-3 per cent is targeting an overall market share of 6 per cent. 75 per cent of the total sales that Renault has made which is a little over 35,000 units has come from the sale of Duster which is testimony to the fact that more growth is going to be seen in the utility vehicle segment
