Shopclues that is an online marketplace backed by Tiger Global is aiming to take e-commerce on cloud. In order to help the existing sellers expand their offline presence, ShopClues will aggregate the services such as advertising, marketing and logistics on the digital channels as it will help them target the hyper-local market.

Regarding this, Radhika Aggarwal, the Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Shopclues said that the online marketplace has a seller base of around two lakh and the point of sale services are a significant for many of the sellers who carry out the ales even via offline stores. The process of digitizing the business will help the merchants augment their sales locally. The addition of this service to the platform will help Shopclues achieve its objective of turning profitable within the year 2017.

The e-commerce portals Amazon and Flipkart are also looking at the hyper-local businesses to increase the revenue. Amazon is prepping Amazon Kirana for a year and Flipkart is geared up to launch the hyper-local services soon.

On Shopclues, the registered sellers can select the domain names in order to create their online stores, integrate a chat option and payment gateway and cater to the orders from his or her locality.

To meet with the delivery requirements, Shopclues will work as a server aggregator that lists out the delivery runs available in a particular area. The sellers will be helped by Shopclues to create their digital coupons, choose different models, advertise online and get flyers printed via the service providers listed with the online marketplace for hyper-local discovery.

The services for the hyper-local delivery will be rolled out based on the merchant density that is especially the metros. These services will be available to the sellers on a common dashboard as they become members of the portal, claimed Sanjay Sethi, the Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Shopclues.

The pilot for the creation of the mobile stores for the local businesses was debuted before eight months and the transaction feature will be integrated to the site in the next week, he added.

The service platforms that will pit the e-commerce marketplace against the online store creation platforms include Shopify, on-demand delivery startups and digital marketing platforms.

Shopclues backed hyper-local discovery platform Shopsity in June this year. The startup was founded by Danish Ahmed, the former CEO of Yebhi.
