McDonald’s, an American fast-food company, has been on the ladder of success since its initial release in 1940. The fast-food company has also been in demand when their outlets expanded globally and people around the world were excited to grab on the delicious meals in McDonald’s.
McDonald’s took its first step towards familiarising with Indians and the Indian culture way back in 1996. Today India has over 304 outlets throughout the country. One of the first junk foods most Indians would have had in their life would be from McDonald’s during their family visits to a nearby mall.
This remarkable journey of McDonald’s is a milestone. The American fast-food company has its roots in Western civilization. Hence what Indians could have expected and experienced is a fast-food company with individualistic views and independent decisions.
But since their launch, they were completely respectful of Indians and Indian culture. McDonald’s took the time and effort to acknowledge our vegetarian community and their requirements. They re-engineered their menu by having different varieties of vegetarian dishes.
They also made sure that from the production until serving the vegetarian and nonvegetarian meals, did not cross paths considering how important this is to the Indians, so much so that even the Mayonnaise is completely vegetarian.
India is the first country that McDonald’s isn’t serving Beef and Pork, again respecting our culture and values. McDonald’s only serves Chicken. The Big Mac which is known for the juicy Beef burger was re-engineered in India to Maharaja Mac with Chicken as the choice of meat for non-vegetarians and sesame seeds bun for vegetarians.
This is why the relationship between McDonald’s and Indians has been going strong for 25 years. It was only this week that McDonald’s hit this 25th anniversary with India even with equally strong competitors around.
Over the years every global development McDonald’s made was imparted into the Indian outlets as well. Such as McCafe, the wide range of caffeine varieties and fruit smoothies, and the wide range of breakfast meal options that were given.
All in all both McDonald’s and India are happy to have hit this anniversary and they both are looking forward to 25 more years of this journey.
