October 10, 2024 — Today, on World Mental Health Day, Indian composer Ricky Kej shares the official music video for “Spiritual Love,” a highlight from his recently released Break of Dawn album, which explores the ancient Indian musical heritage of the Vedas, using their core tenets in every composition, and each song crafted through the lens of upliftment and healing. “Spiritual Love” and its accompanying video offer an invitation to slow down and reconnect with body and mind.
In his own words, Kej says:
“With all the problems that we face today, nothing has a separate existence. The impurities in the environment affect the mind, and the impurities of mind also pollute the environment. In order to purify the environment, we have to purify the mind and vice versa. Our mental health is paramount, for creating a more kind, compassionate and environmentally conscious society. What better way to go about this, than through the powerful language of music. “Spiritual Love” from Break Of Dawn, based on the ancient Indian Raag Hemavati is a step in this direction. It has a soothing and tranquil quality that promotes a sense of inner peace and calmness. Its melodious structure helps to ease mental stress and anxiety. It is also known to have introspective qualities that enhance meditation efforts in listeners. Furthermore, listening to Raag Hemavati before bedtime has been known to improve the quality of sleep with its soothing tones.”
Break Of Dawn is Kej’s latest studio album, and first for Vedam Records, a new wellness-focused music label, rooted in the timeless traditions of Indian culture. For this album, Kej collaborated with nine of the finest musicians in their respective fields from around the world, delivering soothing melodies, rich with Indian musical and cultural influences, and is the perfect companion to the daily practices of yoga and meditation. Break Of Dawn is available on all streaming platforms worldwide. You can stream the album here and watch the video for the title track “Break of Dawn” here.
