Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Unveiled Officially at IFA 2014

September 4, 2014: Finally, the highly anticipated – Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has been launched officially at the IFA 2014 tech show inBerlin. The vendor not only unveiled the Note 4, but also another phablet – Galaxy Note Edge with a curved display that is wrapped around the sides of the device.

Detailing on the Galaxy Note 4, the phablet appears to come with a slew of enhancements including the S-Pen and a stylish design. In terms of design, Samsung has used a metal frame on the device as in the Galaxy Alpha.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Galaxy Note 4 boasts of a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display with 2560×1440 pixels. With a pixel density of 515 pixels per inch, the phablet uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for scratch resistance. There are two variants of the phablet – one with a 2.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor supplemented with Adreno 420 graphics unit and the other with an Exynos 5433 octa-core chipset with two quad-core processors. Both the variants are paired with 3 GB of RAM that can render efficient multi-tasking.

On the imaging front, there is a 16 MP Auto Focus camera with Smart OIS at the back of the Galaxy Note 4. This camera comes with dual LED flash for an enhanced performance even under low light. Other features include HDR, Selective Focus, Rear-cam Selfie, Virtual Tour Shot, Dual Shot and others. Also, the 3.7 MP front-facing selfie camera with f1.9 to capture 60 percent more light comes with impressive aspects such as 90 degree shooting angle and 120 degree wide angle for clicking a wider frame of selfies.

There is a Side Touch capacitive button on the Note 4 that will activate the camera using a gesture when the device is locked. This button operates via sensors and it goes invisible when not in use.

Like always, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will arrive with 32 GB of internal storage capacity with support for expandable storage up to 64 GB. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and packs connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, IR LED, MHL 3.0 and NFC. There is a 3,220 mAh battery powering the phablet from within and this is claimed to deliver a decent backup with Ultra Power Saving Mode and quickly charged with Adaptive Fast Charging.

As in the Galaxy S5, the Note 4 incorporates a finger print sensor and a UV detector. Interestingly, the former doubles as the camera shutter button when clicking selfies using the Note 4’s front camera.

Samsung uses a S Pen stylus with the device and comes with software aspects such as Air Command, Action Memo, Image Clip, Screen Write and Smart Select. Other features include MultiWindow, S Health 3.5 and Dynamic Lock Screen to mention a few.
