Suzuki Introduces 150cc Gixxer Mototcycle for Rs 72,199

September 10, 2014: On Tuesday, Suzuki Motorcycle India introduced the premium 150cc bike called Gixxer in the country aiming to tap into the youth market segment. The price of the new two-wheeler was revealed on the official website of the maker few days back. It appears like Suzuki is aiming to become one in the top three two-wheeler makers in the country in the next three years and the launch of the Gixxer could be helpful for the vendor.

Measuring 2050 mm x 785 mm x 1030 mm in dimensions (length x width x height), the Gixxer appears well proportioned. There are styling elements in the vehicle making the robust two-wheeler sporty as well. There is an aerodynamically shaped fuel tank, chromed exhaust and other aspects.

The Gixxer is powered by a single-cylinder, 154.9 cc air-cooled engine that is equipped with the Suzuki Eco Performance technology. The new motorcycle is paired with a 5 speed gearbox that will enable the engine to provide a maximum power output of 14 bhp and 14 Nm peak torque respectively. The front tyre in the Gixxer measures 100/80-70, whereas the one at the back measures 140/60R-17.

The key features of the Suzuki Gixxer include the fully digital display, single disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear, segment first dual exhaust, 160 mm ground clearance, 780 mm seat height, 12 litre fuel tank and 135 kg kerb weight.

The ex-showroom pricing of the Gixxer inDelhiis Rs 72,199 and it will translate to an on-road price of Rs 79,800. The two-wheeler will be a competitor to the other vehicles including Yamaha FZ FI V2.0, TVS Apache RTR, Honda CB Trigger, Hero Xtreme and Bajaj Pulsar 150.

At the launch, Suzuki Motorcycle India Executive Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, Atul Gupta claimed that the maker is planning to sell over 50,000 units of the Gixxer in the first six month of launch. InIndia, the 150cc motorcycle market is witnessing a sale volume of 70,000 units per month and SMIPL is targeting to grab about 10% of this. In 2013, Suzuki sold over 5 lakh units and this year it is looking to achieve a 15% growth in sales.
