Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Unveiled Officially

September 10, 2014: Apple unveiled its highly anticipated two new iPhone models on Tuesday at the big event that was hosted by the firm. By saying two new variants, we mean the iPhone 6 with a 4.7 inch display and the iPhone 6 Plus with a 5.5 inch display respectively. Both the handsets are slated to go on pre-order in theU.S.starting from September 12 and go on sale from September 19. Later the iPhones will be launched in the other parts of the world with anIndialaunch date tipped to be October 17.

The new iPhones boast of scratch resistant glass, stainless steel frame and anodized aluminum back. The iPhones have curved edges that help in rendering a seamless experience while swiping. Also, with the new Retina HD display technology, the handset are claimed to pack increased pixel count up to 185 percent than the iPhone 5s that was launched last year.

Talking of specifications, the iPhone 6 flaunts of a 4.7 inch display with Retina HD that will render a resolution of 1334×750 pixels and a pixel density of 324 ppi. On the other hand, the iPhone 6 Plus boasts of a larger 5.5 inch display that will provide a great new look for the iOS 8 based applications that are optimized to run on the bigger screen. This 5.5 inch display has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 401 ppi.

Apple has used its Apple A8 chipset, second generation 64 bit based SoC in the new models. Build using the 20 nm processor, this processor is stated to be smaller than the A7 chipset by 13 percent and to deliver twice the energy efficiency as well. The processor is rated to provide an increased processing power of 25 percent and faster graphics by 50 percent.

When it comes to the photography department, both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have 8 MP iSlight primary camera with faster phase detection auto focus, dual LED True Tone flash, f/2.2 aperture, 43 MP panorama shots, FHD 1080p vide recording and slow motion video recording at 240 fps. While the iPhone 6 Plus comes with optical image stabilization, the sensor on the iPhone 6 has only digital image stabilization. Also, onboard is a front-facing 1.2 MP FaceTime HD camera that comes with support for Burst Mode.

In terms of pricing, the iPhone 6 is priced at $199, $299 and $399 for the 16 GB, 64  GB and 128 GB variants, whereas the iPhone 6 Plus is priced at $299, $399, $499 for the same configurations respectively.
