September 19, 2014: On Thursday, Amazon introduced the latest generation e-reader Kindle that is powerful with a 20 percent faster processor, all new touch screen display and double the storage space as compared to the previous generation mode. Despite the enhancements, this new Kindle is pretty compact, light and portable and could render a great e-reading experience to the users.
With the incorporation of an anti-glare touch screen display, users can enjoy an uninterrupted reading experience even under direct sunlight. This touch screen display in the Kindle is of 6 inches with a grey scale panel and a pixel density of 167 pixels per inch.
The Amazon Kindle comes bundled with 4 GB of internal storage capacity with support for free cloud storage as well. There is an embedded battery that is claimed to provide a backup of up to four weeks on a single charge.
When it comes to new feature additions, the Kindle FreeTime lets parents encourage their kids to spend more time reading. Parents can select books that are necessary for their kids and reward them with accomplishment badges on achieving reading milestones. There is a Vocabulary Builder that automatically lists the words that are looked up using the dictionary. Users can just swipe through the vocabulary builder and use the flashcards to interrogate themselves.
Another interesting featue is Whispersync that saves and synchronizes the last page read, annotations, bookmarks and more enabling users to continue from where they have left. The Smart Lookup feature integrates the dictionary definition with references from information sources like Wikepedia and X-Ray respectively.
Users can automatically backup the Kindle e-books to the cloud without concerns of losing the books or re-downloading them for free. Kindle Page Flip feature helps in scanning chapter wise, jump anywhere and more in a book. Also, this feature will suggest the time left for the completion of a chapter depending on the user’s personalized reading speed.

This new Kindle is priced temptingly at Rs 5,999 and is up for pre-order on the online retailer AmazonIndiaand the units will be shipped from October 9.
