Jolla smartphone launched at Rs.16,499 in India

September 23, 2014: Finnish smartphone maker Jolla has launched its smartphone in India in an exclusive partnership with Indian e-commerce company SnapDeal. Jolla smartphone would be available at Rs.16,499 with a 4.5-inch IPS qHD(540x960p) display. Jolla which was founded by a group of ex-Nokia employees who were involved with the development of MeeGo-based devices at the company

Jolla which runs Sailfish OS has got ‘The Other Half’ smart covers which allow changing the phone’s user interface theme as one of its highlights and is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor.

The other features of Jolla smartphone are:

  • 1GB of RAM
  • 16GB storage expandable via microSD card
  • 2,100mAh battery
  • 8MP rear camera alongside an LED flash and a
  • 2MP front-facing camera

Sailfish OS is based on MeeGo, the same OS that was last seen on Nokia’s N9 smartphone.
