After the take over of Nokia by Microsoft, the parent company Nokia based in Finland has come up with its first ever self branded Android tablet called N1. The device will be going on sale in China in February 2015 nearing the Chinese New Year. Furthermore, Nokia has licensed the brand and N1 industrial design to Foxconn that will be taking charge of engineering, sales and marketing of the tablet priced at $249.
The Nokia N1 flaunts an aluminum unibody build and comes in two color options – Natural Aluminum and Lava Gray. It carries the credits for being the first device to arrive with a reversible USB Type-C connector, a specification targeted at the next generation USB cables.
The N1 is fueled by the stock version of Android Lollipop and comes with the Z Launcher feature that has arrived on the Google Play Store. This Android launcher supports gestures that let users to scribble a letter or two on the display to launch the required content including apps, contacts or anything else. As time passes, the Z Launcher will learn the habits of the users and predict the applications that they would use at that time of the day.
In terms of internal specifications, the Nokia N1 is fitted with a 7.9 inch IPS LED backlit display that carries a screen resolution of 2048×1536 pixels and is protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for scratch resistance. The device also makes use of the laminated zero air gap technology. Under its hood, the N1 incorporates a 64 bit 2.3 GHz quad core Intel Atom Z3580 processor that is backed by 2 GB of RAM and PowerVR G6430 graphics unit.
The Nokia N1 features a capable imaging unit that comprises of an 8 MP primary camera with auto focus and 1080p FHD video shooting ability. Also, there is a 5 MP front facer that can be used for video conferencing and clicking self portrait shots. The connectivity aspects of the N1 includeBluetooth,Wi-Fi with MIMO and micro USB with reversible Type-C connector. A 5,300 mAh battery electrifies the tablet from within the slate that has stereo speakers.
