After a long wait, the Chinese vendor Xiaomi unveiled its yesteryear flagship smartphone Mi4 for the Indian market on Wednesday as it was expected to. The firm has priced the device at Rs 19,999 and it comes with the new MIUI 6. When it comes to availability, Xiaomi Mi4 priced at Rs 19,999 will be listed for grabs exclusively via Flipkart and the first sale will debut on February 10. The registrations for the sale have been debuted on the day of announcement itself.
Detailing about the Xiaomi Mi4, the smartphone comes with a premium build featuring metallic side frames and narrow bezels around the screen. There is a 5 inch Full HD 1080p IPS LCD display at the front of the phone that comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Operating under its hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz paired with 3 GB of RAM.
Storage wise, the Xiaomi Mi4 is given 16 GB of native storage capacity that cannot be expanded as the device lacks a micro SD card slot for expansion. Notably, the 64 GB variant of the Mi4 has not been announced for the Indian market for now. At the back, the Xiaomi offering flaunts a 13 MP main camera with a large 1.12 micrometer pixel size for better low light performance. The rear snapper also features dual tone LED flash and supports recording 4K videos. Also onboard is an 8 MP selfie focused snapper tat the front with Full HD video recording support.
Connectivity features onboard the Xiaomi Mi4 includes Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS and micro USB 2.0. There is a 3,080 mAh battery that powers the Mi4 from within and it should be providing a decent backup enabling the phone to last up to a day.
Software wise, the Xiaomi Mi4 runs on MIUI 6 with Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The new MIUI 6 has several changes including subtle motion graphics, smarter notification handling, new design, new lock screen, several vibrant themes, new mail app, new Message app and several others. Notably, the new platform will be made available for all the Xiaomi devices that have been launched and it will rollout from February 10 inIndia. MIUI 6 will arrive on Xiaomi Mi3 and Redmi Note 4G in early February and on Redmi 1S and Redmi Note by the end of March.
