Maruti Suzuki sets up new Nexa showrooms

In order to crack the big vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki India that is well known for its small cars is coming up with a setup of retail outlets under the brand Nexa. This is aimed to sell premium models including the upcoming S-Cross model.

The automobile manufacturer has set an objective of selling two million units a year by 2020. With 25 models, it is expecting the Nexa network to provide a significant amount to the sales. It will also open 100 dealerships under the same in 30 cities by the end of this fiscal year.

Different dealerships will hire 700 people from the other sectors such as aviation, hospitality and financial services to provide a unique luxury car buying experience for the potential discerning customers.

Regarding this, RS Kalsi, Executive Director of Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India claimed that they have created a customer base of 1.5 crore in the past three decades of its operations. The customer profile is modifying everyday and they do not have the necessity to provide all new premium products so that they stay with these customers and plan about their biggest car.

He further stated that most of them are third generation customers and young achievers who are well experienced car users. This is the need for the vendor to provide a distinguished buying experience to these customers. For this reason, they have hired people from aviation, hospitality and financial services as well. Maruti Suzuki India is also planning to provide personal relationship manager.

Regarding the             highlights of the Nexa and upcoming S-Cross, the executive stated that in order to extend their leadership, they will have to continuously focus on the find segments. They have set a target of two million units on an annual basis by the year 2020 and these initiatives take in the fiscal year 2015-16 are the first few moves taken in that progressive direction.

Lately, Maruti witnessed a significant drop in the small cars segment despite struggling in the past in the big cars segment. Ciaz is the only sedan that is in the big car portfolio of Maruti.

The crossover S-Cross will be launched in the first week of August and it is believed to be priced around Rs 10 lakh. There will be two engine options – 1.6 litre and 1.3 litre diesel that are sourced from Fiat as per a license agreement.
