July 30, 2012: InterGlobe, the owner of award winning budget carrier IndiGo, is now entering retailing at Metro stations and on highways. It has floated a subsidiary Inter-Globe Retail, which would open up and operate shops at Delhi Metro stations with an initial investment of Rs 20-22 crore. They would be launching retail shops in toll highways in the next phase.

The company sources stated that 20 shops have already been opened at Metro stations and they will have 40 more stores coming up in the next two to three months. InterGlobe seems to have found a niche for itself to enter the retail business.
