Aug 21, 2012: IndiGo airlines emerged as the new market leader in low cost airline services. The low cost airlines took over the market leadership from Jet Airways. IndiGo airlines added 16 aircraft carriers to its fleet in last 12 months at a time when Kingfisher airlines was shrinking.
Last year IndiGo had a fleet of 42 Airbus, 320 aircraft with a market share of 19.2% and in this year it had grown to add 58 aircraft to its fleet with a market share of 27%. This addition enabled the airlines to meet the traffic demand as a result of Kingfisher’s slow death better than Jet Airways.
