Maruti Suzuki is in news for its employee issues and plant shut down. Maruti however continues to do well in social media. They beat many hi-fi brands in creating social media brand equity. According to the latest NM Incite’s Q2 2012 Social media Brand Equity Ranking , Maruti Suzuki ranks first in the list.
NM Incite India, an extended arm of leading research firm Nielsen Media computes social media brand equity by taking into account the total volume of buzz and public sentiments created around the brand both online and offline.
Maruti Suzuki stole the show by succeeding in creating a strong public sentiment towards it across the social media networks in India. As per the list, the automaker is followed by Samsung Mobile in the second position, Nokia in third, Brand IPL and Café Cofee day in the fourth and fisfth position respectively.
It is very interesting and see how Maruti was successful in creating that posiitve buzz in the social media network sites. They have dig in a lot to create high volume of conversations on social media forums like blogs, boards, forums and social media sites.
FMCG and food companies are the new entrants to the top 20 list. Interestingly they are doing a good job to by building an emotional connect with their consumers.
But beware telecom brands!!!… says the report…..even though you have dominated the top 20 list with nine numbers, the report finds that sooner or later telecom brands will come down as negative sentiments have been created by not addressing customer complaints.
It is also sad that while Maruti topped the list, Mahindra & Mahindra and Ford India dropped to the position from 6th and 2nd to 8th and 10th respectively. The analysts stated that Maruti has done well in creating offline brand equity that contributed to the online brand equity.
In the food sector the all time celebration brand, Cadbury has made over a million fans and Nescafe has done a marvelous job by changing the online strategy to create online conversation over coffee!!!(that is really entertaining).
