After the recent tie-up by Mukesh Ambani with Facebook , Yoga guru turned entrepreneur, Baba Ramdev becomes the new emerging competitor of Amazon and Walmart.
Patanjali Ayurved, the “swadeshi enterprise” led by Baba Ramdev , announced the plan for forming an e-commerce platform – Order Me, after Narendra Modi gave “vocal for local” call. It has been planned to go live within 15 days, according to Times Now report.
The chief executor and managing director of Patanjali Ayurved, Acharya Balkrishna said the e-commerce platform is introduced in order to meet Prime Minister’s “vocal for local”, call. The Modi’s push for swadeshi products seemed like a perfect opportunity for the yoga guru to set up an e-commerce platform and capitalize the opportunity for the same.
Ramdev’s FMCG brand, worth 3000 crore, is to have a tough competition with JioMart, as both brands are targeting mom-n-pop stores.
Ramdev believes Patanjali can easily replace the international brands; Maggi and Nestle.
According to the report, Acharya Balkrishna said, “OrderMe will supply, support and approve only swadeshi products . Patanjali’s effort is to contribute towards the long-term swadeshi movement by connecting the local retailers and small enterprise owners with the aim to gain benefit from selling those swadeshi products on their e-commerce platform. The small scale enterprises can join their e-commerce platform and the plan is , to deliver their swadeshi products free of cost”.
And he also told OrderMe app is being
developed by Patanjali with it’s own IT team along with New Delhi based Bharuwa Solutions which is to
be launched across Android and iOs soon.
The CEO has also planned to double down the swadeshi theme with in-built
software which is used to manage the sale, supply of products on a country wide
distribution.
The OrderMe app, derived its name from a sacred and spiritual symbol
found in Indian religions,” OM”(O
for Order and M for Me). The new e-commerce platform uses Patanjali
Ayurveda’s 5000 base outlets across the country. Tijarawala said that efforts
will be put in ensuring credible delivery. The company will be using workforce
at their outlets and additionally create jobs to complete the delivery chain.
