The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 to get going from September 19 in the UAE. Thursday, a source within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) notified that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for teams and the bio bubble training facilities, moving of the tournament, its schedule and training camp, stay and travel will be discussed during IPL Governing Council meeting.

IPL 2020 got the opportunity to stage because of the postponing of this year’s Men’s T20 World Cup by the International Cricket Council. IPL to commence from September 19 in the UAE and to carry on till November 8, confirmed IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel last Friday.”The cricket fans can now enjoy the full tournament from September 19 to November 8. The further course of action will be discussed with the franchises in the Governing Council meeting,” Brijesh Patel told ANI.

The scheduling of IPL’s 13th edition, the training camp for the teams and players, and analysis over the SOP are among the matters that have to be discussed in the next IPL Governing Council meeting. Other matters that have to be discussed are the operational aspects, discussion on issues related to the broadcaster, and the DXB app to download for players and officials. With the expectation that every team needs at least a month to train, the franchises will be leaving the base by August 20, which gives them exactly four-weeks to prepare for the league.

This year’s IPL matches were reserved to begin from March 29 but the tournament was postponed considerably due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic across the globe. Earlier, Brijesh Patel, IPL governing council chairman announced that the 13th edition of the league will be played in the UAE this year. So it’s official now, UAE to host the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The league will run from September 19 to November 8, it is a full 51-day IPL. The authorities are expecting government approval to come through. There will be 60 matches to happen. The league will happen considering the COVID-19 protocol.

The GC will meet in the coming week, to make decisions on whether to keep the home and away format this year or not. The meeting will decide if IPL 13th edition can have limited crowds, considering that the coronavirus health situation is a lot better there. The authorities to seek the advice of the UAE government if they can have any crowds.
