Kotak Securities launches global investment platform for buying US equities

Kotak Securities Limited (KSL) has launched a global investment platform for its Indian and Non-Resident Indian customers. It offers an opportunity for Indian and NRI customers to invest directly in US equity markets. It has joined with Nasdaq listed Interactive Brokers Group (IBKR) for this. Kotak Securities Limited is providing a completely digital and seamless experience which includes onboarding to trading.

Investing in US equities has now at the fingertip. Customers can use both KSL web-based platform as well as a mobile app for investing. They have a client base of 2.25 million and 650,000 active clients and clients need to pay a flat brokerage of $1.99 for any size of the trade. Jaideep Hansraj, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Kotak Securities Limited said in a statement that with the advancement of technology in all aspects of activities globally, the rest become history with the new normal.

He also added that diversification plays an important role in relieving the risk as well as help them to take advantage of market cycles in different economics. Indian and NRI clients can now easily invest in successful & growing US-listed large-scale technology-based companies and biotech companies.

With no minimum ticket size for buying and selling of shares, including buying of fractional equity shares in the US markets, allows retail investors to build a portfolio of global companies Hansraj added that. The brokerage also said that the client onboarding on a platform is a do-it-yourself process and the customer has to fill up their personal information and regulatory details online. The process of brokerage has three main steps – (1) the client comes on to the brokerage platform, (2) selects the stock to buy or sell (3) get details of executed trade.

Based on their trading preferences clients can easily open their accounts with the help of a digital platform and able to choose the subscription plan. The shares bought by clients are held by Interactive Brokers, which is a global custodian in multiple jurisdictions, Kotak Securities Limited said. Rivals HDFC Securities and Axis Securities have already tied up with Stockal and Vested Finance, both fintech operating in this space.
