Oppo is prepared for their new launch of its next F-series smartphones. There will be two smartphones once again but their names are going to be slightly different. While the F17 will be succeeded by F19, the F17 Pro will have the F19 Pro+. Amazon India has made the “Notify Me” pages for the launch of the two phones live, hinting to an imminent launch. The launch date is still not available.
Some past reports suggested that there may be three variants this time, the F19, the F19 Pro, and a new F19 Pro+. The third variant is expected to be a 5G phone. But, later confirming that this piece of information was a poster that was recently leaked online. It suggests there will be only two phones instead, the vanilla F19 and the F19 Pro+. Besides, there are some screenshots that a tipster claims belong to the Oppo F19 Pro+ and reveal some significant specifications details of the said phone.
According to the tipster who goes by @imailisa0825 on Twitter, the screengrab of the settings page shows there will be upheld for a 90Hz refresh rate on the display. This seems logical because the last F-series didn’t have a high-refresh rate display. So naturally, the replacement would have this feature. The screenshot also hints that there is a punch-hole setup on the top left corner, which we have seen previously. There is a second screenshot of an application that lists one large information about the hardware of the Oppo F19 Pro+. The biggest takeaway is the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset, which belongs to the superior category.
The Dimensity 1200 processor was announced recently as MediaTek’s most advanced chipset for premium-end phones. This processor will also enable 5G connectivity on the Oppo F19 Pro+. The tipster has also ensured the smartphone will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Even though there is no information on whether expandable storage capacity will be supported on the Oppo F19 Pro+. This phone has a model number PEPM00. Some other details such as the display size, camera specifications, and battery capacity are still not known.
The tipster has some interesting intel on this phone, who said in the tweet that this phone will launch as Oppo A94 5G and Reno 5A 5G in select markets. This is besides the strong speculation that this Oppo phone is the F19 Pro+, which surely will hit some markets, possibly including India. This model number was also spotted on China’s Quality Certification Center (CQC) where it was listed with 30W quick charging. If this is true, there is not going to be a significant improvement in the upcoming phone over a year ago’s F17 Pro. It seems Oppo is reserving the 65W quick charging just for the Reno series and Find X series phones.
In this way, the banner that I discussed somewhat before also reveals some light into how the F19 and F19 Pro+ may look. Both smartphones may come with a rectangular camera island with at least three cameras on the top-end model and four on the regular. There seems to be no fingerprint sensor on the back or on the power button on the two phones, which implies the display will have it embedded on it. This also implies the two phones are likely to get AMOLED screens. The Oppo F19 Pro+ camera module will have the 5G branding while the F19 will settle for the AI moniker around the cameras.
For now, it isn’t clear when Oppo is planning to launch the F19 series. Yet, given how strong the current dump of leaks appears, the launch may not be too far. In any case, we will know about what is in store in the coming days.
