India l June16, 2021: Sugal&Damani Group, the Government Licensed Lotteries Company, through its CSR arm, Empathy Foundation has successfully delivered medical kits containing COVID accessories to the BMC-run COVID hospital at Rajawadi in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. The kit comprises of a spirometer, an N95 mask, a vaporiser, sanitizer, Betadinefor gargling, biscuits and a digital thermometer.
Under its Intravention Program, the Empathy Foundation also acts as a medical aggregator to COVID positive patients by helping them get online medical consultations with doctors in their vicinity. The consultation charges are taken care of by the foundation itself.
To help Mumbai and its suburbs in dealing with the second wave of the pandemic, the Empathy Foundation earlier delivered over 3000 kits containing COVID accessories to the Municipal Corporation Hospitals set up for COVID-positive patients belonging to the marginalized sections of the society.
Taking about the initiative, MitulDamani, Director, Sugal&Damani said, “We seek best wishes from the group members to do this humanitarian work under the guidance and instructions of our respected trustees. The endeavour is targeted at patients and healthcare providers so that they are at ease while dealing with the second wave of the pandemic. We assure all the help from our end and would continue to be of help to the health authorities if they require us at any step. I am also thankful to the hospitals in Mumbai and Pune for showing faith in us.”
The foundation is also coordinating with the Public Health Department of the Maharashtra Government to have similar kits delivered free of cost to COVID patients through all major District Health Officers.
The foundation aims to provide similar kits to other metro cities including Delhi and Chennai. It is willing to deliver as many kits as required and recommended by healthcare professionals attached to free COVID care government hospitals which are mainly occupied by the economically disadvantaged people.
Additionally, the group is gearing up for its next consignment comprising of 1000 sets to be delivered at theSassoon Hospital, Pune.
A part of the Sugal&Damani Group, Payworld also stepped up its efforts earlier this month to provide COVID-19 vaccine registration for everyone through their 2 lakh retailers spread across India.
