Sept 6, 2012: Nokia in a joint event with Microsoft in New York City, displayed the new Nokia 820 and Lumia 920 windows smartphone. The two phones are the first smartphones built for Windows 8 OS by Nokia. The phones were introduced by Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft along with CEO of Nokia, Stephen Elop during the event.
According to industry experts, Nokia is betting high on these Windows 8 devices to compete in a lucrative smartphone market dominated by Apple and Samsung.
