Audi’s motto “Vorsprung Durch Technik” is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Even if it is half a century after its founding, the world-famous Zine Rings motto has not lost its appeal. and every year, there is a little history behind it. In this momentous event, the company is looking back at a host of innovations over the past 50 years showing why the “Vorsprung Durch Technik” is not just an Audi slogan – and a guide for the company’s future.

Birth of the motto

In 1969 the merger of Auto Union GmbH, with its headquarters in Ingolstadt, and Neckarsulmer NSU Motorenwerke formed the Audi NSU Auto Union AG in the Neckarsulm area. The new company models are based on the air-cooled engine behind the NSU Prinz series so the four-cylinder front-wheel-drive engines Audi 60 and Audi 100 went to a futuristic rotating engine – look at the NSU Ro 80. The idea of citing this technological diversity as a competitive advantage came in 1970 to Hans Bauer. an employee at Audi NSI’s marketing unit developed a motto that people around the world will be able to say: “Vorsprung Durch Technik.”

Changing technology

At a new special show entitled “Living Progress – 50 Years of Vorsprung Durch Technik” starting in December, Audi will show Audi Forum Neckarsulm visitors its love of technology throughout the years.

But what milestones inspired the fact that the “Vorsprung Durch Technik” continues to represent Audi’s innovative interest that is always the motto in all Audi advertising? Oliver Hoffmann, Member of the Executive Board of AUDI AG Technology Development: “The most important milestone in my name is Quattro technology. It not only promotes our successful rally but also represents the transfer of our experience from running to serial production. Since then, Quattro and Audi have been compatible. Equally important was the Audi A8 with the Audi Space Fram technology in 1194, which helps us ultimately maintain our place in the premium segment. ”

“Ten Years of Audi” was launched at Le Mans in the early 2000s. With new technologies such as FSI, Turbo-FSI, laser light, Ultra technology, and hybrids, the Four Rings dominated the famous long-distance race because the winner is unparalleled. The compact aluminum A2 1.2 TDI also began to appear: it was the main and, to date, the only three-door car with three liters.
