India’s Media And Entertainment industry to grow at 10.75%

According to ‘Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2021-2025’, India’s Media and Entertainment industry reach 10.75% CAGR, Rs 412,656 crore by 2025. India gets the fourth-largest market globally after the US, China, and Japan to reach Rs 35,015 crore in TV advertising despite COVID-19. It is expected that a further expansion of 7.6% CAGR in 2025.

During 2020 to 2025 India is the fastest-growing Internet Advertising market globally at a CAGR of 18.8%. Rs 7,331 crore is the revenue from mobile Internet advertising in India was in 2021. It is expected to rise to Rs 22,350 crore by 2025. This makes India one of the fastest-growing mobile ad markets globally. It is estimated that almost half of India is yet to take up a mobile Internet subscription in 2020.

 The Indian consumer magazines and newspaper market is expected to grow CAGR of 1.82% up to 2025 with a worth Rs 26,299 crore. In 2020, with the hit of COVID-19, print advertising revenue fell by 12.0%. From 2020-2025, the Digital magazine circulation and advertising revenue are expected to increase at the rate of CAGR of 9.5% from Rs 231 Crore to Rs 358 Crore.

The gaming market shows enormous potential and continues to enjoy exceptional growth in India. The gaming market in India is influenced by the social category, which accounts for 77% of all esports and video games revenue in 2020. India’s esports market is small, but as awareness grows and, crucially, the mobile esports offering becomes vigorous. This sector is expected to show rapid expansion at a 31.6% CAGR over the forecast period. 

Box-office revenues plunged by 75% to reach Rs 2,652 crore. Digital streaming came to the aid of local producers to make up for the shortfall. Box-office revenue is all set to recover and grow at a CAGR of 39.3% grossing up Rs 13,857 crore by the end of 2025. The overall box-office and cinema advertising is expected to grow back to the pre-pandemic level by mid-2023.

In 2020 India’s total music, radio, and podcasts market revenues dropped to Rs 4,626 crore. The COVID-19 hit stripped almost Rs 522 crore from the country’s music sector. Digital channels account for nearly 90% of the recorded music market. Streaming is the most popular category like every where else around the world. In India, advertisement-supported streaming is the dominant digital product. In 2020 generating Rs 1,088 crore, almost twice the sum reported from subscription revenue. From 2020-2025 the growth for the overall segment is predicted at 19.1% CAGR to reach Rs 11,026 crore.
