Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, seen previously supporting sports and athletes, once again motivates the athletes preparing for the Olympics. His sheer enthusiasm and best wishes were seen via a YouTube ad released on the 16th of July, in which he mocks people who call him a “player” and reminds them that the real players are those who are working hard day and night to represent their country at international events like Olympics.

The actor himself is much disciplined when it comes to physical fitness. He has also done several films wherein he has played the role of a sportsperson or a sports lover and time and again highlighted his love for the same.

His movie ‘Gold’ was based on Tapan Das, the manager of the Indian hockey team, who in the movie and real-life too, had to overcome many obstacles while preparing his team for the Olympics in the hope of winning a gold medal for the country. Another movie – ‘Patiala House’ was sports-themed. Akshay Kumar played the role of an Indian boy who played for the team of England. In ‘Brothers’ along with Siddhart Malhotra, the Bollywood actor played the role of a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. The storyline revolves around the journey of the two brothers from an amateur street fighter to a professional one amidst emotional turmoil.

Apart from Akshay other actors such as Amitabh Bachchan too took a step to boost the confidence of our athletes. Union Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur, Minister for law and justice, Kiren Rijiju also extended their best wishes.
