Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s co-founder, IIT Delhi alumnus, has joined the board of magicpin as an independent director. Magicpin is India’s number one savings app that connects local merchants and brands with suitable customers. It was founded by Anshoo Sharma and Brij Bhushan and backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Waterbridge, and Samsung.

Commenting on the same, the new director said, “I am delighted to join the magicpin board. They are a high-quality team, and I am excited about how they are being a driver of growth for local merchants across categories. I am looking forward to contributing to the company’s success.”

Magicpin is a savings app founded by Anshoo Sharma and Brij Bhushan in 2016 to help local merchants and brands in finding potential customers. The company since the very start has had around 1.5 lakh consumers in 50 cities. ‘OrderHere’ – another platform launched by Magicpin, serves local merchants to set up their online store in minimum time and invites online customers by setting up a proper website for the merchants. Logistics and payment support are given from Shadowfax, Dunzo, Roadshare, and Rapido.

Anshoo Sharma, co-founder of Magicpin commented on the onboarding of Deepinder Goyal, and said how the company is extremely delighted to have him on board, he brings tons of experience and expertise with him and the team at Magicpin is looking forward to his guidance and mentorship in this new journey.

The Magicpin website introduces itself as ‘India’s number one savings app’ with a mission to make hyperlocal magical! The firm has more than 1.5 lakh merchants and 5 million-plus users across the country. The app is quite user-friendly too. Users just need to pin a location or allow the app to auto-detect it to find potential clients in their neighborhood and know about what places they visit the most – cafes, shopping malls, boutiques, studios, etc.

There are user-generated reviews including videos and pictures which give a very good idea about the respective place. People get cashbacks or rewards for visiting these places which include shopping malls to your local grocery stores. Users get ‘MagicPoints’ for spending their money in shops listed in the app and can then use these MagicPoints to buy more services from Magicpin. For sellers, retailers, and brands the app is a platform to attract potential customers, highlight their uniqueness, build good customer relations, and run real-time promotions.
