Limca – The Coca-Cola Company’s home-grown brand in India – today released a special edition of Limca Book of Records (LBR) to commemorate its 50th year in India. The LBR celebrates 30 years of India’s favourite book of records.

This year’s edition commemorates and honours the unflappable spirit of COVID-19 frontline fighters who have valiantly led the fight against the epidemic, with a focus on their selfless acts of compassion and, as always, displaying outstanding talent and achievers from around the country.

Limca Book of Records is a two-year combined edition celebrating spectacular wins and achievements in human activities, structures, education, defence, governance, science and technology, adventure, business, film, the natural world, literature and arts. The newest version, with 4,000 documents, successfully utilised different display pages, reader-friendly infographics and diagrams to increase its visual appeal. The 2020–22 edition offers, along with interesting new records, Record Rewind capsules of previous records, and Super 30 sections that emphasise anniversaries and achievements in the last three decades.

This edition of LBR celebrates 30 years of inspiration as Limca celebrates 50 years since its beginning in 1971. Limca has a long history in India and is well-known for its unique capacity to relieve thirst and impart a sense of freshness. Limca’s brand transformation and new positioning recognise and celebrate the “doers” in life and their unwavering attitude of pushing ahead and looking forward regardless of the circumstances.

In addition, LBR Editor Emeritus Vijaya Ghose stated, “This year’s issue of LBR represents a tremendous milestone – 50 years of Limca and 30 years of the book!” LBR earned immediate recognition across various disciplines and infused a glimmer of optimism in individuals from its beginning.

“Despite the setbacks and disturbances of the last two years, the Limca Book of Records is back and celebrating a landmark,” stated Thomas Abraham, Managing Director, Hachette India (and former project editor LBR 1988–94). I am very pleased to have been a part of the book’s journey from its beginnings and to be a part of it again when it leaves 30 editions behind. At its finest, India marches on.”

The Vande Bharat mission, which became the world’s largest repatriation exercise, was highlighted in this edition of the book, while Noccarc Robotics, a start-up founded by Nikhil Kurele and Harshit Rathore, developed low-cost portable ventilators; Bharat Biotech developed Covaxin in collaboration with the Indian Council for Medical Research, while the Serum Institute of India manufactured Covishield.

In a new environment and sustainability section, this issue also honours India’s green warriors, who looked beyond themselves to focus on the environment and our world. They oversaw sustainability initiatives, concentrated on waste management, and participated in recycling and other environmentally beneficial missions. Apart from the sections on ‘Environment and Sustainability and ‘Combating Covid-19,’ the book also has parts on ‘100 Years of India at the Olympics,’ ‘Thrilling 30s,’ and ‘Our States and Union Territories.’ The book is only available in the Indian subcontinent at a discounted price of INR 550/-.
