JSW Sports, the sports wing of the JSW Group (a worldwide $13 billion corporation), has recently worked with India Accelerator, the only GAN partnered, mentorship-driven accelerator programme in India, to create an exclusive premier seed and early-stage Sports Tech Cohort.

The partnership intends to create a growth-oriented accelerator programme for early-stage sports entrepreneurs. It aims to promote technology in the Indian sports ecosystem, develop technological innovation, and provide a conducive environment for startup collaboration.

The debut of the Cohort has made me very happy. “The sports tech business is stepping up, and there is a pressing need for responsible companies to develop with innovative technology and better client experiences,” said Mona Singh of Co-founder IA.

We’re excited to partner with JSW Sports to launch our inaugural Sports Tech Cohort, which will provide a unique platform for sports businesses to scale and tap into the world of sports opportunities.”

A 16–20-week Sports Tech Cohort will be offered as part of the agreement to a cohort of five to seven seed-stage businesses with excellent business ideas.

Agility, Operations, Technology, Culture, and Strategy are the five essential aspects of any startup.

“India has been at the forefront of technological advancements in a variety of industries, and I believe we are on the verge of a revolution in the sports market, with a variety of variables catalysing the entry of tech-based solutions in India’s rapidly developing sports sector.”

“We are optimistic about the future of this industry, and we see tremendous potential in homegrown companies redefining the sports market in India,” said Mustafa Ghouse, CEO of JSW Sports.

Exclusive workshops and one-on-ones with industry experts are available to Domain and Industry Mentors.

Additionally, the chosen startups will join India Accelerator’s Global Network and sports ecosystem.

As part of the Sports Tech Cohort, entrepreneurs will get access to India Accelerator’s expansive co-working space, which includes a go-to-market environment.

In addition, the programme will focus on the grooming of the founders, organise a demo day, and provide improved exposure to a variety of investors.

Around 200 applications were received by India Accelerator and JSW Sports from various domains such as Sports Data Analysis, Digital Media, Wearables and Performance, Fan Engagement, Stadiums and Venues Sponsorship Assets, e-Sports, gaming, and so on.

The corporations have so far shortlisted four startups after a thorough review, and the search for new inductees is still ongoing.

IA has now completed four successful cohorts and guided over 100 start-ups to the proper mix of opportunities, allowing them to scale.

JSW, on the other hand, has been in the forefront of developing a sporting culture in India by maximising the potential of Indian athletes and sports. IA and JSW Sports seek to integrate the startups into the industry and help them reach their full potential as a result of the relationship.
