With the launch of MAK Lubricants’ new campaign ‘MAK Chala Gaon Ki Ore,’ Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, a ‘Maharatna‘ and Fortune Global 500 company seek to extend its connection with the rural market.

Mr G. Krishnakumar, Executive Director (Lubes), BPCL, initiated the project in Tamilnadu’s Karalappakam Village. The goal of this campaign is to engage quality-conscious consumers in rural areas who are keen to learn.

MAK Lubricants has organised a two-month activation push with a sequence of engagement activities at local market squares, panchayat Bhavan, and weekly enquiries to educate and enable these consumers.

The Company will engage with farmers through ‘Kisaan Melas’ at the Taluka level as part of the new initiative and will reach out to them with the help of District Agricultural Officers, Block Developments Officers, and Officials from other administrative agencies, who can help educate farmers and other consumers about new developments in agriculture and welfare schemes.

MAK Trac champion, hydraulic oils, and pump oils, all focused on the agriculture industry, will be offered by BPCL as products advantageous to rural users. MAK Lubricants intends to revive the business activities of small-time mechanics by providing training and introducing them to newer technology and safer techniques, as rural markets become increasingly the economic powerhouse of the country.

BPCL-Kochi Refinery has been involved in numerous community development projects in the country. A Family Strengthening Programme for Tribal Community in Thrissur District, Kerala, is one such programme.

The project focuses on the overall development of 143 tribal children by providing healthcare, nutrition assistance, enabling access to basic education in adjacent “Ooru” communities, improving livelihood, lowering school dropouts, and promoting vocational skills.

A flagship project called ‘Roshni’ teaches Malayalam and English to over 750 children of interstate labourers through extra morning lessons taught by a language expert utilising the Code-Switching approach. The goal of the programme is to incorporate the learners into society.

The Vigilance Awareness Week will take place from October 26th to November 1st, 2021, with the subject “Independent India @ 75: Self Reliance with Integrity,” and a number of activities have been planned to raise awareness and promote Vigilance among workers across the Corporation.
