Bumble, the woman-first dating, and social networking app announced today the global launch of its updated dating experience, which includes a redesigned Bumble Date profile and an innovative new matching algorithm.

Bumble Inc. Founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd said, “This is a wonderful moment for our business and our global employees who have been working relentlessly to unveil what can only be described as one of the most important products and algorithmic breakthroughs since our launch seven years ago this week.”

Bumble was chosen one of the 2021 Apps of the Year in the trend category for creating connection, according to Apple’s App Store Awards announcement. “Apple’s acknowledgment is wonderful, and it’s both humbling and inspiring for us as we strive to expand on our success this year,” Wolfe Herd added.

People’s dating behavior grew more intentional during the pandemic, with an emphasis on compatibility and connection before moving offline, and the way the Bumble community used the app shifted. As a result of this, and based on feedback from our worldwide community of millions of daters as well as months of product testing, Bumble’s redesigned dating experience promotes more engaging, less superficial profiles and the content daters need to make more strategic approaches.

The ability to exhibit up to 160 categories of interests on your dating profile, as well as the opportunity to connect your Instagram and Spotify accounts to better highlight your particular style, only adds to this.

Bumble’s matchmaking algorithm has also been overhauled from the bottom up, incorporating the most cutting-edge machine learning technology to improve matchmaking. It learns from previous customer behavior to provide the best possible matching experience while also protecting user privacy and security.

Bumble has also developed a new system with the updated algorithm that recommends which photo to lead within your profile, which has already increased in matches for Bumble users.

The app has observed an increase in time spent on profiles since the launch of the Bumble Date profile revamp, indicating a person’s desire to learn more about a possible match before moving on to another.

Machine learning has also been used by Bumble to improve its focus on user safety. The app just launched a method that prioritizes the most serious safety reports automatically and reduces response time. Additionally, proactive safety monitoring, which uses automated and AI-based technologies to discover possible infractions before users even report them, allows Bumble to detect content and conduct that violates its Community Guidelines.

In nearly 100 languages, this includes harassment, hate speech, and other improper content. Bumble has blocked almost 2.5 million accounts thus far in 2021, with the bulk of them being blocked automatically.
