Big Bazaar is India’s largest discount department store chain, with over 250 locations across the country. From food to fashion, to household supplies, the chain offers everything under one roof.

As digital presence becomes a larger concern for all brands, Big Bazaar plans to enhance its social reach through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and others.  The content is more relatable and helps strike a conversation with the target demographic.

One of the Big Bazaar store employees, Kiran Gholap, commonly known as Rapper KG, who appears in the launch video, wrote the rap song. Kiran has worked with the store since 2017 and has a strong interest in rap music and making his music videos.

In March of 2017, he posted his first-ever rap on his YouTube account, and fans in the comments urged him to continue pursuing his dream of making raps. While working his 9-hour shift at Big Bazaar Panvel, he works on the lyrics for his new rap songs. His store manager also encourages him to pursue his rapping goals.

The rap has been posted on the brand’s social media pages to mark the launch of their new initiative HUMANS OF BIG BAZAAR. It features foot-tapping beats and creative entertaining lyrics.

When Big Bazaar first launched the service, it connected its offline stores with its mobile app and online. To improve its digital presence, any order placed online will be delivered within the specified time frame.

As the chain strives to consolidate its online presence, this is projected to increase. Food, fast-moving consumer goods, fashion, and home segments were all included in the two-hour delivery promise.

While online delivery of non-essential retail products was prohibited in several regions during the lockdown period in April and May, it is now authorised as part of the states’ unlock initiative.

Most online platforms and marketplaces have begun offering discounts and offers, as well as extending their sale periods, in categories such as fashion, lifestyle, and durable goods, to capitalise on the uptick in demand.

According to retail sector sources, sites like JioMart and BigBasket handle between 500,000 and 300,000 orders each day. However, specialists monitoring the sector claim that the order value per transaction for the two sites is minimal, at Rs 500-600.

According to reliable sources, Big Bazaar’s average transaction value is roughly Rs 1,200. The chain’s 290 outlets deliver merchandise in 140 locations, while JioMart and BigBasket deliver in 200 and 26 cities, respectively.
