On Tuesday, Sterlite Power stated that the Nangalbibra-Bongaigaon, inter-state transmission project, has been acquired by the company from PFC consulting.

The company did not disclose the transaction price. Nangalbibra-Bongaigaon Transmission Ltd serves as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

In October 2021, the company won the inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project via tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) and through the SPV, the company will execute this project, the company stated.

The project includes building nearly 300 ckt km (Circuit Km) of transmission line network and 320 MVA transformation capacity of greenfield substation over the North-Eastern terrain of Assam and Meghalaya.

From Assam to the Western parts of Meghalaya, the project will carry over 1,000 MW of power.

The project involves 250 ckt km of 400 kV D/C (double circuit) transmission line connecting Bongaigaon in Assam to a greenfield substation at Nangalbibra in Meghalaya, over the river Brahmaputra.

It will involve a 50 ckt km of 132kV D/c line connecting Hatsinghmari in Assam to Ampati in Meghalaya, and a 220/132 kV substation at Nangalbibra in Meghalaya.

The statement also mentioned that, Aside from bringing the extra power flow, the project will help in loosening the downstream networks in the region and hence improving the reliability and quality of power flow in North-East India.

Sterlite Power has a collection of 27 projects over India and Brazil that involves projects under the stages of development and that has been sold out.

The company has known for tracking the record of carrying out complex projects successfully. This year, the company had executed the NER-II project across the north-eastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura.
