Following a successful year that included numerous crucial hires, Nomad is expanding again, this time from within, promoting Assistant Editor Kallie Billadeau to Editor.

Kallie has spent over three years at Nomad working on various projects, including documentaries and ads for world-class global brands Jeep, Calvin Klein, Glossier, Aveeno, and others.

As a former D-1 ice hockey player, she considers her Aveeno campaign with WNBA star Skylar-Diggins Smith and her work on Under Armour’s 2021 Pride Collection her best successes. Kallie, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, was thrilled to contribute to creating a tale that reflects the variety of her community and promotes awareness of overlooked voices.

In addition, her debut documentary, “RESIST,” about the Resistance Revival Chorus, was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival. Kallie, a lifelong artist, grew interested in editing early, initially developing her talents by cutting her ice hockey team’s end-of-the-year movies throughout middle and high school.

Her love grew throughout her time at Syracuse University, where she learnt crucial time management and multitasking skills and created her artistic style, which largely relies on music and detailed sound design to elevate the aesthetics of each piece.

Kallie now joins Editor Sam Perkins, Senior Lead Flame Artist Steve Morris, ECD Chadwick Halbritter, and Partner/Editors Brandon Porter and Conor O’Neill as full-fledged members of Nomad’s tight-knit creative team.

“When I first joined Nomad, the work they were doing went well above anything I had been associated with at the time, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to come on board,” she adds.”It felt like a family from the moment I met Jennifer and the rest of the Partners — one that I knew would constantly challenge me to become a better editor.

” So I’m delighted to begin this new phase in my career and consider myself quite fortunate to be doing so at Nomad.” “When the Emerging York Partners and I were engaged with Nomad, we had explicit goals of establishing a firm that honoured new talent and created avenues for the workforce to grow internally,” Lederman says.

Kallie is our first promotion to the editor. Therefore, it’s a momentous occasion for all of us. The truth is that Kallie’s skill was unmistakable. She not only succeeded at the assignments we assigned her, but she also sought out director contacts and was able to add some genuinely great spots to her reel as a result.

She’s an excellent role model for any aspiring assistant editor. Jim Ulbrich, a Nomad Partner/Editor, is similarly ecstatic, saying that the decision to develop Kallie was simple.

“Kallie is a formidable opponent. She’s a hard worker who has deserved the success she’s had. It was ultimately a simple decision to promote her to the editor. Her humorous, almost irreverent editing approach demonstrates her apparent enthusiasm for the art. It’s always fun to see what she’s been up to and how she’s improved a certain project. Overall, Kallie’s work contributes to the breadth of work we do at Nomad, and we couldn’t be more proud of her.”
