After the passing of Rahul Bajaj, Chairman Emeritus of Bajaj Auto, dairy brand Amul, famed for its smart and cheeky creatives, became melancholy over the weekend. Amul paid tribute to “one of India’s most active and respected business people” in a black-and-white creative.
Rahul Bajaj, a veteran industrialist and the head of the Bajaj Group, died on February 12 in Pune after a protracted illness. He was 83 years old when he died. Amul, a dairy company, paid a touching homage to Bajaj by posting a monochromatic doodle on Twitter.
“Mera, unka,uska,inka, hamara Bajaj…” read the inventive artwork, which had Bajaj riding a scooter next to an Amul female. Amul captioned the post as #Amul Topical: Giving Tribute to one of India’s most active and respected business people.
Tributes flooded in from all around the country for India’s most active industrialist. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind both expressed their sympathies on Twitter.
According to a statement released by the Bajaj Group on February 12, the industrialist, who had been ill for some time, died in the presence of his closest family member. The former Bajaj Group chairman’s death rituals were performed with state honors in Pune on Sunday.
On June 10, 1938, Bajaj was born. For nearly 40 years, he was the chairman of the Bajaj Group. In April of last year, Bajaj resigned as Chairman of Bajaj Auto. For a five-year term, he was named Chairman Emeritus of the corporation.
In 2001, Bajaj received the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honor. He was well known for directing the Bajaj Chetak scooter’s meteoric success in the 1970s and 1980s. Between 1979 and 1980, he was President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Rahul Bajaj has also been elected president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). He was Chairman of the then-operating Indian Airlines from 1986 to 1989, and he was President of the CII for a second time from 1999 to 2000.
The passing of the Bajaj leader, who served as the chairman of the Bajaj Group for over 40 years, was lamented by both industrialists and politicians. The Gujarat-based firm paid tribute to famous vocalist Lata Mangeshkar earlier this month after she died on February 6 at the age of 93.
