McDonald’s India (West and South), has announced the beginning of the Happy Meal Readers program. As part of the campaign, children will now receive books in the famous McDonald’s Happy Meal®.

These books are intended to pique children’s interest in reading and to encourage reading as a habit by making reading enjoyable. The new Happy Meal will include a burger of your choice, a beverage, a cup of hot, steamed corn, and a book.

The Happy Meal Readers program’s book collection is handpicked by award-winning British author Cressida Cowell, who is well-known for her several children’s series and is presently the Waterstones Children’s Laureate (2019 – 2022).

She has authored a series of 12 novels for McDonald’s, two of which will be released each month. The 12-book collection titled ‘Tiny Detectives’ will allow children to immerse themselves in imaginative stories about forests, spiders, stars, koala bears, and other creatures.

These books are intended specifically for the inquisitive minds of 6-year-old children and up, answering questions that they frequently seek solutions to from their parents. Customers in West and South India will be able to choose between the two books while purchasing a Happy Meal at a McDonald’s location.

Speaking about the launch of the McDonald’s Happy Meal Readers program, Arvind R P, Director – Marketing & Communications at McDonald’s India (West & South), stated that, just as parents want the best for their children, McDonald’s has been constantly working to create offerings that add value to the lives of all their young customers. Books are important to their young consumers because their inquisitive minds are continuously looking for answers.

He went on to say that the new Happy Meal Readers Program provides another opportunity for families to bond with their children while instilling the habit of reading and providing numerous feel-good moments to treasure.

The Happy Meal Readers Program is a McDonald’s effort aimed at promoting a love of reading in kids and strengthening family relationships by generating experiences that make reading enjoyable.

Giving books in the Happy Meal idea enables options and experiences that align with evolving customer lifestyles while advocating children’s happiness and well-being.

Following a nutritious redesign of the Happy Meal with a beverage and a cup of hot, steamed corn last year, the new Happy Meal Reader’s program is yet another act of happiness aimed at bringing a grin to its consumers.
