Schlup & Co. was established in 1917 in Lengnau, Switzerland, and began utilising the Rado brand in the 1950s. Previously, it was a component of Sagiter and the General Watch Co.

Along with Longines and Union Glashütte, Rado is a “high-end” brand of the Swiss watchmaker Swatch Group. Rado is currently recognised for high-tech materials like as ceramic, as well as emblems such as the seahorse and anchor, which denote waterproof and automatic watches, respectively.

During his first visit to India, Rado CEO Adrian Bosshard unveiled three new Captain Cook product lines at a private boat event in Mumbai‘s harbour.

The Rado DNA is brilliantly embodied by the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Diver, which was inspired by wilderness, water, and adventure. The six variants are all outfitted with cutting-edge technology, 80 hours of battery life, and water resistance that meets ISO 6425 standards.

A Rado R763 movement is housed inside a magnificent high-tech ceramic monobloc casing that is scratch-resistant, hypoallergenic, and nearly indestructible, ready to face any challenge, whether in the wilderness or in regular life.

The Captain Cook Chronograph will be released internationally in June (embargo till June 1, 2022) for the first time as a chronograph. Rado’s “Master of Materials” collection also includes not one, but three different versions of their new chronograph, each with its own set of colours and strap/bracelet combinations that are guaranteed to delight even the most discerning collectors.

For genuine explorers, time never stands still. The same can be said of Rado’s watchmakers, who have updated a classic model from the 1960s with a high-quality Swiss hand-wound mechanical movement.

The Captain Cook Over-Pole is based on the original “Over-Pole Worldtimer,” but with enhanced design characteristics. All modern explorers and vintage timepiece aficionados will be interested in the watch. At Rado, India is one of their top three markets, and they see tremendous growth potential here.

While in his presentation, Mr. Bosshard stated that they would continue to search for new opportunities to collaborate and develop in this area. Rado’s desire to develop watches that are cutting-edge in design, technology, and style is reflected in the new classic Captain Cook Diver line. He is confident that the new Captain Cook line will be as popular in India as it is in the United States.
