Business Correspondents (BCs) of PayNearby, India’s largest branchless banking network and leader in digital payments, are now sailing on boats to provide essential banking and financial services to the populace of the flood-affected villages, providing a lifeline to the residents of Assam, which has been devastated by flooding. They are assisting individuals in 265 flood-affected communities to get cash withdrawal services by using Micro ATM and Aadhaar ATM.
The floods have had a significant negative impact on Assam’s economy, affecting more than 31.54 lakh people across 26 districts and a population of over three crores. . People today have little to no access to services and hardly enough money to consider meeting their needs. In trying times, the BC network in India—of which a sizable portion is registered with PayNearby— ensuring that the general public’s access to essential financial services is not restricted and made available at their doorsteps, has proven essential.
In an endeavor to serve as the cash disbursal points, the Assam branch of PayNearby’s network of over 20,000 retail partners is working extremely hard. To aid the less fortunate in the affected areas, these traders travel by foot or small boat and change themselves into cash terminals with AePS biometric devices and Micro ATMs.
Anand Kumar Bajaj, the founder, MD, and CEO of PayNearby commented on the relief efforts, saying, “The Assamese people are going through a difficult period. The most practical action is to show up at their door and extend a financial hand. Our shop partners are at the fore, ensuring that residents of these areas have continuous access to cash to get through the storm and its aftermath. A total of 40,000 or more peasants have used the program to withdraw about 20 crores.
We have always believed in the use of technology to satisfy the unmet requirements of the last mile as a business founded on the premise of offering services supported by cutting-edge technology and innovation. In spite of all the obstacles, our foot troops in Assam provided relief, which is consistent with our slogan to “serve unabated at all times.”
“It is an honor for us to be able to support relief efforts, and we are working hard to make sure that every transaction goes smoothly. We remain more dedicated than ever to supporting the nation and providing last-mile continuous service to everyone, said Bajaj.
