BARC Wk 28: India TV is No.1 Hindi News Channel on 15+ HSM 6 weeks in a row

According to data from BARC India for Week 28 (Saturday, July 9th, 2022 to Friday, July 15th, 2022), the overall Hindi News Genre rose by 1%, earning 2,319(000) AMAs [Source: BARC | 0600Hrs to 2400Hrs |15+ | HSM | Wk 27’22 & Wk 28’22 |Hindi News Genre (12 Hindi News Channel) | Basis AMA 000s].

India TV has led the Hindi News genre in HSM 15+ for six consecutive weeks. The channel’s relative share dropped slightly from 13.1 percent in Week 27 to 13 percent in Week 28 [Source: BARC | 0600Hrs to 2400Hrs |15+ | HSM | Wk 23’22 Wk 28’22 | Relative Share among 12 Hindi News Channels | Basis AMA 000s].

Aaj Tak, which was ranked second, reported a relative share of 12.8%, followed by News18 India, Republic Bharat, and TV9 Bharatvarsh, which all reported relative shares of 12.0%, 12.0%, and 9.5 percent, respectively.

For the past 11 weeks, India TV has also consistently ranked first in the HSM Urban Market. With a relative share of 13.0 percent, Aaj Tak came in second. Republic Bharat came in second with a relative share of 11.4 percent, News18 India came in third with a relative share of 12.7%, and Zee News came in fourth with a relative share of 9.2 percent.

BARC India was created and put into action as an alternative to TAM Media Research, the audience measuring system set up by the WPP company Kantar Media and the information and insights company Nielsen. It was established in accordance with the Indian Ministry of Information & Broadcasting’s regulations.

The MD & CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., Punit Goenka, has been chosen to lead BARC India.

Nakul Chopra, who had been chairman for a year, is succeeded by Punit.

The joint industry body’s former chairman, Nakul Chopra, returned as CEO in August 2021. After Partho Dasgupta, the organization’s founding CEO, left the organisation in 2019, Sunil Lulla assumed leadership, succeeding him.
