Google Maps announced the introduction of its Street View service in ten major Indian cities on Wednesday (July 27) in conjunction with Genesys International Corporation and Tech Mahindra. The feature is presently available in Bengaluru, with releases in Hyderabad and Kolkata to come. Street View will soon be available in Ahmednagar, Amritsar, Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, and Vadodara thanks to the upcoming expansion.

Tech Mahindra and Google are working together on this. Tech Mahindra licenses street-level imagery to Google for this purpose.

Along with the launch, Google announced that it will work with government organizations such as local traffic authorities to improve road safety and minimize traffic congestion.

Tech Mahindra will be in charge of all GIS (Geographic Information Systems) activities, including data development, resource management, the creation of insights, and the actual collecting of street-level photography.

Vice President of Google Maps Experiences, Miriam Karthika Daniel stated, “We are delighted to work with Tech Mahindra and are incredibly grateful for all that they have done to make the debut of Street View in India possible. Throughout the past 14 years, we at Google Maps have kept working on methods to provide people all over the country with useful, local, and high-quality experiences. Only via partnerships with regional partners was this launch made possible, and we look forward to exploring new avenues for providing Maps users with even more helpful features and data.”

“We’ll keep doing this properly, enabling accurate, real, and reliable information,” Daniel promised. We are eager to make our technology and experience available to the neighborhood ecosystem.

Technology is not only the backbone of the global economy, but it is also a strategic instrument that can turn insights into solutions, find trends and predictions, and sustainably transform businesses, according to Birendra Sen, business head, business process services, at Tech Mahindra. Technologies that convert GIS findings into consumer-ready goods are becoming more and more necessary today. Increasing data accessibility and the emergence of smart cities throughout the world have both contributed to the GIS industry’s exponential growth. In keeping with this, our collaboration with Google is another step in giving Indians access to top-notch, immersive mapping experiences.

Google and Tech Mahindra have collaborated in areas such as Google Cloud, engineering, content management, contact center operations, and network services in recent years.
