According to a Swiggy report, based on orders placed between June 2021 and June 2022, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai are the top metro cities that use Instamart the most. In the last year, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Hyderabad alone have placed more orders than the entire population of Canada. Non-metro cities such as Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Ahmedabad are poised to drive the next phase of growth for India’s rapid commerce sector. Swiggy Instamart has delivered over 50 million eggs and 30 million milk orders in the last two years.
Swiggy’s quick commerce grocery business Instamart has delivered millions of orders in 25+ cities over the last 24 months. In the last year, Instamart orders have increased 16 times. According to the report, orders on Instamart have increased 16X in the last year. According to a March 2022 report by consulting firm RedSeer, the requirement in the quick commerce segment will be fueled by large metro areas and tier-1 cities on the back of mid-high-income household members.
Swiggy stated that Instamart has delivered over 50 million eggs and 30 million orders of milk in the last two years. Bangalore and Mumbai received the most milk orders during breakfast, while Delhi, Jaipur, and Coimbatore received the most milk orders during dinner. The highest bill amount on Instamart was Rs 11,535 and the lowest bill amount was Rs 1 (because of ongoing offers).
Swiggy also stated that ice cream orders increased 42% between April and June. In addition, over 5.6 million packets of instant noodles were delivered in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai in the last year. Furthermore, the report stated that approximately 62,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables were ordered through Instamart. The quick commerce business also saw a 58x increase in organic produce sales, with Bengaluru topping the list with orders totaling over 1,200 tonnes.
Swiggy reported that, aside from food, Instamart received over 200,000 orders for cleaning products such as bathroom cleaners, scrub pads, drain cleaners, and so on. Close to 2 million sanitary napkins, menstrual cups, and tampons, as well as 45,000 boxes of band-aids, were ordered in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Chennai.
