In India, Samsonite has launched Magnum Eco, a durable, lightweight luggage collection that harnesses the creative advancements of recycled material RecyclexTM. Magnum Eco products aim to decrease carbon footprint while maintaining excellent performance and durability. The unveiling represents a significant advancement in baggage innovation and enhances Samsonite’s goal to become the most ecologically responsible manufacturer of travel and lifestyle goods.

The Magnum Eco bags’ strength, lightness, and impact resistance set them distinct while also contributing to earth restoration. The recycled material technology RecyclexTM is used throughout the Magnum Eco collection. The collection is the result of extensive research and was created in unconventional methods; the outside shell is made of recycled polypropylene (PP), while the interior fabric is made of PET bottles.

Large Magnum Eco baggage is made from 483 yogurt cups and 14 plastic bottles worth of recycled plastic trash.

The new Magnum Eco luggage is built to last, with the aim of avoiding landfills for as long as possible. The Magnum Eco range is the result of years of research and development, along with close collaboration with SUEZ Recycling & Recovery and LyondellBasell.

Samsonite has joined together with One Tree Planted, a non-profit striving for worldwide reforestation. They grow trees to help restore nature and biodiversity while also raising awareness about the value of trees. Samsonite’s global objective is to plant at least 60,000 trees by 2022.

Mr. Jai Krishnan, Chief Executive Officer-India at Samsonite South Asia Pvt Ltd., commented on the launch, “Sustainability is built into our 112-year tradition.” While products such as Magnum Eco, our new brand of hard-side cases made with recycled materials, are new, we have always used resources sustainably. We have always prioritized the creation of long-lasting, high-quality products and the promotion of product repairability as an alternative to disposal and replacement.”

“We are delighted to provide Samsonite with solutions that cover the whole value chain,” SUEZ CEO Antoine Grange said. “We look forward to creating more dependable and sustainable products.”

“We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with renowned organizations like Samsonite to reduce plastic waste and are delighted to be a part of the solution,” said Ken Lane, LyondellBasell’s Executive Vice President, Global Olefins & Polyolefins. “The Magnum Eco is an excellent use for our recycled material since it offers this valuable resource a new purpose by providing travelers with a long-lasting product.” We are always creating sustainable product solutions to fulfill the needs of our customers.

Samsonite’s business strategy includes an emphasis on sustainability. In a sleek and contemporary design, the Magnum Eco line includes five appealing color options, each inspired by nature. The bag is one of the lightest in its class and has passed the whole of Samsonite’s extensive strength testing.

According to Samsonite CEO Krishnan Ramakrishnan, the Magnum Eco collection is aimed at customers who are “unwilling to compromise on durability and design.”
