Into the wild by Sushma Jain and Shivani Dugar 

Mumbai, 24th November: The “Into the Wild” exhibition, which captures the pure beauty of wild animals through paintings, was inaugurated by Mr. Manu Kumar Srivastava and his wife Dr. Archana Srivastava at Jehangir Art Gallery. The paintings by Sushma Jain and Shivani Dugar will be on display from November 23 to November 28.

Widlife artist Sushma Jain and abstract artist Shivani Dugar will be presenting their exhibition of paintings in Mumbai’s premier Jehangir Art Gallery. The exhibit will showcase a large collection of oil paintings by both the artists. 

Sushma Jain is the wife of Anand Jain, mother of Neha Bagaria of JobsForHer and Harsh Jain, CEO of Dream11. She was born in Bankura, West Bengal. After graduating from Sophia College in Mumbai she pursued Foundation Course at the Indian Art Institute followed by Art Teacher’s Diploma at The J.J. School of Art and holds multiple awards. She also completed the screen-printing course at the Sophia Polytechnic in Mumbai where she stood first and received the awards for Best Student and for Best Creativity.

Her paintings capture the quintessential beauty of the animals in the wild through her photorealistic paintings. In the year 2018 at the age of 60, she held her first solo show at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. She has been part of many solo and group shows since then in India and abroad.

Shivani Dugar was born in Calcutta in 1979, and grew up in Bangalore, India.  After completing her degree in finance at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. she decided to pursue her lifelong passion and enrolled at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York for a Masters in Fine Art Degree. 

Her paintings invites viewers on a visual journey to explore the spaces she has created; magical, elusive moments that foster reflection on memories past and futures envisioned. She has had successful solo shows in New York, Washington D.C, Baltimore, Philadelphia, China and Belgium and has participated in group shows around the world.  

The two artists celebrate nature and wildlife in their own distinctive ways. Sushma Jain stays dedicated to animal welfare, protection and wildlife conservation, to the extent that she is constructing a Veterinary Hospital in Lonavala where healthcare will be provided to all animals in need of medical help. The proceeds from the show of Sushma Jain’s paintings “Into the Wild” will benefit The Raksha Foundation to build a new veterinary hospital in Lonavala.
