Hindu College felicitates Dr. Lalit Bhasin in honour of completing 60 years of Law practice
  • A certification course on the introduction to law as a career was also launched during the ceremony

New Delhi, December 7, 2022: The management of Hindu College honoured Dr. Lalit Bhasin, an illustrious alumnus of the institution, on completing 60 years in the legal profession. On the occasion, Dr. Bhasin inaugurated the certification course on, “The Introduction to Law as a Career.” Dr. Anju Srivastava, Principal Hindu College, and Mr. TCA Rangachari, Chairman, Governing Body Hindu College, as well as former Ambassadors for India to different countries, were present during the felicitation ceremony.

A 1959 graduate of Hindu College, Dr. Bhasin, has been helping the college in crucial legal matters, as well as assisting in raising funds for developing its infrastructure. Recently, he is chairing the committee assigned to raise funds for the redevelopment of the boys’ hostel. “UTSAV”—the recently added amphitheater—is his gift to the college.

Speaking at his felicitation ceremony, Dr. Lait Bhasin said, “I feel honoured by all the love and respect I have received from the management of Hindu College. I would like to extend my gratitude to the principal and chairman of the governing body of the college for this recognition. It’s always a great pleasure to visit the campus where you started your journey. This college has been so close to my heart as I have been involved in the multiple things taking place here. I am glad to launch the certification course on the introduction to law as a career and hope that it will encourage the youth to make a career as law practitioners.

Commenting on the felicitation, Dr. Anju Srivastava, Principal Hindu College said, “Honoring Dr. Bhasin is privilege for us. He is a pillar who has retained a foundational connection with this college for over 60 years and has played an instrumental role in cementing it as an eminent institution. We wish him more laurels and glory in his professional life. Alumni are key, arterial members of a college’s intellectual and cultural environment, and their support allows the college to build the future and cater to the rising needs of students and faculty.

The Chairman of Governing Body Hindu College, Mr. TCA Rangachari said, “We cherish our association with Dr. Bhasin and look forward to his continuing involvement and interactions with us. Through his distinguished career in law and his contribution to public affairs and charitable activities, he has made a name for himself and, in the process, brought tremendous credit to the college. Notwithstanding his multifarious responsibilities, he has always found time to help the college time and again. “His advice and guidance have been invaluable.”

Presently Dr. Bhasin is the President of Society of Indian Law Firms, Chairman, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – India, Chairman, CII National Committee on Legal Services, ORF Global Advisory Board. He has recently been elected to the prestigious post of National President, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce and recently elected to the prestigious post of National President, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.

As the visionary president of the Old Students Association of the College for several decades, Dr Bhasin started many prestigious events such as the Distinguished Alumni Awards, the Hindu-Stephen’s Cricket Match between former cricketers of Hindu and St. Stephen’s to revive old friendly rivalries, and the Clash of the Titans Inter-College Debate between former debating teams of prestigious colleges of the University. Today, these events have grown into much-looked-forward-to established functions. Currently, Dr. Bhasin is the chairman (Emeritus) of the association.
