BBC keep broadcasting the Olympic games for the next decade

BBC will bring comprehensive coverage of the Olympic games with discovery (WBD), warner Bros, European broadcasting union (EBU) in a new joint partnership.

Significant rights deals that secure the future of the Olympic games on the BBC up to and including 2032 has announced by the BBC. BBC ensures that all events remain free-to-air for a wider range of audiences across the globe. BBC will bring comprehensive coverage of the Olympic games with discovery (WBD)warner Bros, European broadcasting union (EBU) in a new joint partnership. It will also cover the Olympic games and all major movements on radio, TV, digital, and online to audiences across the UK.

 BBC sports received an award for coverage of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. It saw a record-breaking request to see the action online through the competition. These requests were received from almost 104 million people. The Olympic games are very popular with today’s audience. There was on-demand content on the BBC sport website and iplayer with 24/7 live. This is when more hours of coverage showing by BBC one than ever before. In this 1.7 million audience used to tune in to 5 live on BBC sounds and 36.4 million watched Tokyo 2020 on BBC TV.

 For BBC this new agreement secures the same package of rights for demand coverage of the Olympic games and to continue offering extensive live for the audience. This will broadcast the Olympic games across all media platforms including the Olympic games Brisbane 2032. International Olympic Committee (IOC) agreed to launch of competitive tender with this new partnership. These include warner bros and European Broadcasting Union (EBU). 

To acquire all media rights discovery presented a common project across 49 territories in Europe for the XXV Olympics which will happen in Los Angeles, the 2030 XXVI Olympic winter games, and XXXIII Olympiad in Paris 2024, BBC’s existing agreement includes digital, radio, and TV rights. Tim Davie, director general, BBC says the Olympic games are a very special event- inspiring and thrilling in equal measure. Davie is delighted that this event of games will be free-to-air for the UK audience. Bringing all the analysis and action to the audience, BBC will do a great job.
